Quick Tip: Using Type 4 JDBC Drivers with Progress 10 Database

You must be using version 10 of Progress OpenEdge and you must have a valid license to get these jars (after installing a workstation license of OpenEdge, they ended up in the directory C:\Progress\OpenEdge\java for me). Here is the DbVisualizer set-up which gives an indication how to set-up the connection:

Note that I have found the drivers that are actually supplied by a third-party, DataDirect and Roger Bjärevall at Minq Software has pointed out that there are other drivers originating from Progress. (Roger also notes that DataDirect is a wholely owned subsidiary of Progress Software.) Whether the Progress drivers are of type 4, I don't know because they were never supplied to me.
