Git is a distributed revision control system which sprung out of the Linux kernel development project. I recommend against using this one on Windows, although maybe it's OK if you're only working on Macs and other 'nix type systems. It seems to get agitated from the very beginning about CRLF in DOS files, something that Subversion never has a problem with.
